Chevrolet is an American automaker founded in 1911 by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant. The company started as the Chevrolet Motor Car Company and was initially a division of the larger General Motors (GM) company.
Chevrolet’s first major product was the Classic Six, a luxury car that was introduced in 1912. In 1914, the company introduced the Little Four, a small, inexpensive car that was intended to compete with the Ford Model T.
In the 1920s, Chevrolet introduced a number of new models, including the Superior, a mid-sized car, and the National, a luxury car. In the 1930s, the company introduced the Standard Six, a mid-priced car, and the Master Deluxe, a more upscale model.
During World War II, Chevrolet turned its focus to the production of military vehicles and equipment, and it did not return to the production of passenger cars until after the war. In the 1950s, the company introduced a number of new models, including the Bel Air, a full-sized car, and the Corvette, a sports car that became one of Chevrolet’s most iconic and enduring models.
Today, Chevrolet is known for its wide range of vehicles, including sedans, SUVs, pickup trucks, and sports cars. The company is a division of the larger GM company and is one of the largest and most successful automakers in the world.
