Dodge is an American automaker founded in 1900 by John Francis Dodge and Horace Elgin Dodge. The company started as a supplier of components and assemblies for other automakers, but it quickly transitioned to building complete vehicles.
In 1914, Dodge introduced its first passenger car, the Dodge Brothers Model 30, which was a popular and affordable vehicle. In the 1920s, the company expanded its range to include a number of different models, including the Victory Six, a six-cylinder car, and the Fast Four, a small, inexpensive car.
In the 1930s, Dodge introduced a number of new models, including the Luxury Liner, a mid-sized sedan, and the D-11, a luxury car. During World War II, the company turned its focus to the production of military vehicles and equipment, and it did not return to the production of passenger cars until after the war.
In the 1950s, Dodge introduced a number of new models, including the Coronet, a mid-sized car, and the Royal, a full-sized sedan. In the 1960s, the company introduced the Dart, a compact car, and the Charger, a muscle car that became popular with performance enthusiasts.
Today, Dodge is known for its lineup of muscle cars, including the Challenger and the Charger, as well as its SUVs and pickup trucks. The company is a division of the larger automaker FCA US LLC (formerly known as Chrysler Group LLC).
